GreenPass is an eco-conscious air travel initiative developed as part of the Idea4Travel Ideathon, organized by Turkish Airlines and Üretken Akademi. Our project was selected as one of the top 12 finalists out of 200+ submissions, highlighting its potential to drive sustainability in the aviation industry.

The idea was to explore how carbon awareness could be integrated directly into the passenger experience. Instead of treating sustainability as an external concept, we focused on making it visible, trackable, and actionable for everyday travelers.

I worked as a Developer, contributing across ideation, product design, and prototype development. We approached the project as both a technical and conceptual challenge, balancing feasibility with a clear user experience.

We designed and built a React Native prototype that allows users to track the carbon footprint of their flights and receive incentives for making more sustainable travel decisions. The goal was not just to inform users, but to influence behavior through simple and understandable interactions.

One of the key aspects of the project was designing a system that connects sustainability metrics with user motivation. Instead of presenting raw data, we focused on creating a reward-based structure that encourages users to make environmentally conscious choices over time.

The prototype demonstrated how such a system could be integrated into airline platforms, offering both user value and long-term environmental impact. It also served as a way to validate the idea within a short timeframe, under the constraints of an ideathon setting.

This project was a strong exercise in turning an abstract idea into a tangible product, combining research, design, and rapid development while presenting the concept in a real industry context.
