SpiceCode Hackathon is a 24-hour coding competition organized by Google Developer Student Clubs (GDSC) Kocaeli University in collaboration with Kocaeli Teknopark. The event brings together developers and designers to build working software solutions within a highly limited timeframe.
I worked as a Front-End Developer in a three-person team, focusing on building a mobile application that delivers a clean and usable experience while meeting the core requirements of the hackathon challenge.
The project required moving quickly from idea to implementation. We started with rapid planning and feature prioritization, then focused on delivering a functional MVP rather than over-engineering the solution. Time management and clear communication within the team played a critical role in keeping development on track.
Using React Native, I built the mobile interface and handled the interaction flows, ensuring the application remained responsive and easy to use despite the tight deadline.
At the end of the hackathon, we presented the project to a jury, explaining both the technical decisions and the reasoning behind the product design.
This experience was a strong exercise in rapid prototyping, decision-making under pressure, and team collaboration, where delivering a working product within constraints was the main priority.
